Greek Meat Sauce "Kema"
This Greek Sauce can be used for many of your dishes from simple pasta to casseroles and lasagna.

Serves: 4-6
  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb
  • 3 chopped onions
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup tomato paste or 1 can tomatoes
  • 1-1/2 cup white wine
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • a pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • Myzithera Cheese or Parmesan for topping
  1. In a deep skillet add the butter and cook the onions until tender.
  2. Add the meat and cook until browned.
  3. Add the tomato paste diluted with 1 cup water.
  4. (Or add the tomatoes,chopped)..
  5. Add the wine, bay leaf, salt ,pepper and cinnamon(optional).
  6. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes until sauce thickens and changes to a much lighter color.
