IFBC Conference in Seattle

by Mary Papoulias-Platis

Just returned from an amazing trip to Seattle where the conference convened inside the Theo Chocolate factory. Together we listened intensely, sat for hours, visited with new bloggers, and ate with great desire all the wonderful food prepared for us by local chefs and restaurants.

In the evenings we gathered to hear speakers on food subjects that we must all take a stand on, whether it be just a simple dinner with neighbors or setting up a community local program for our children.  This hopefully inspired bloggers to become involved in their cities. We also were given many opportunities throughout the day to meet new faces and explain and debate our place in the food blogging world to our just-acquainted peers.

During the day we had many valuable speakers from the computer industry, publishing field, and writing world, who engaged us in many debates over important subjects. They were also kind enough to meet with us afterwards for any burning questions we may have had. We took away so many thoughtful and kinds words from their thought-provoking sessions.

The Theo Chocolate company invited us into their factory for the entire weekend, as we blogged, took a tour of their factory, stuffed our faces again and again, and became totally immersed in the field of blogging.  Thank- you Theo Chocolate! http://www.theochocolate.com/

These pictures were taken before I could adjust my new methods of photography, hopefully my fellow bloggers understand why. We had the honor of listening to a fabulous presentation by Penny De Los Santos, all about food photography, so much incredible and useful information, my head is spinning.

One of the many highlights for the weekend was a gorging feast from several incredible food trucks from the area. I tried to capture their insanely-aromatic dishes they prepared for us from their creative kitchens and brightly colored food trucks.

Many thanks to Foodista  http://www.foodista.com/ and all the sponsors for this wonderful event.

Thanks for posting about the conference. My head is spinning too from all of it. It was my first conference and it was sensory and information overload – but in a good way. I’m now making the rounds to the blogs to see how other attendees process the experience. I like how you’ve laid out your pictures!

My head is still spinning too, so much so that I haven’t written a post about it yet!

Nice to have met you in Seattle- hopefully we’ll run into each other at a local event around here in the near future!
